SafeView’s Mission
Our mission at Safeview is to develop and distribute innovative products that protect and educate consumers.
Back-up accidents in the US alone kill more than one child per week and send approximately 3,000 more to the emergency room each year according to the Center for Disease Control. With the popularity of larger vehicles such as SUVs, Vans, Mini-Vans and Pick-up trucks, this disturbing number, if not addressed, will surely grow.
Most consumers today still do not fully understand how large a driver’s rear blind spot actually is. At Safeview, we feel it is vital to make us all more aware of the dangers that exist every time you put these vehicles in reverse. One of our current products, the Safeview Lens, dramatically reduces the blind spot directly behind your vehicle. And it’s simple and affordable.
We, at Safeview, commend the efforts of the teams at KidsandCars.org and at the Consumers Union who work diligently to educate people worldwide of various vehicular dangers. Because of their efforts, significant legislation such as HR 3683, “The Cameron Gulbransen Kids and Cars Safety Act,” was first introduced by Rep. Peter King (R-NY) in 2003 and again in 2005 by Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and Sen. John E. Sununu (R-NH). This bill is named in memory of 2-year-old Cameron Gulbransen, who lived in Rep King’s congressional district and died when his father was unable to see him while backing his SUV out of the driveway. With the passage of this legislation, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will track non-traffic car fatalities from back-overs.
If you own a vehicle and do not address this situation, you risk the life of a child or pet that could be standing behind your vehicle, completely out of your view. It is our responsibility as licensed drivers to be aware of this well documented danger.
At Safeview, we’re looking out for your future, protecting life and property. And as a reminder, we ask that you always be aware of your surroundings before you back-up!
